Job seekers can get job search, training, and support to succeed in the job market and increase wages.

How to get help:

• You will attend a WIOA orientation and eligibility meeting. Adults must have low incomes and lack job skills in demand now; or

• Be a “dislocated worker” – you are laid off or have a layoff notice because of current economic situation (not leaving a job for personal reasons) and you need skills currently in demand.

 

WIOA - funded and approved training

WIOA funds are limited. Even if you are eligible, training funds are not guaranteed.  New funds may be issued each year.

The Connecticut Department of Labor (CTDOL) oversees WIOA in the state and CTDOL’s Workforce Development Board partners administer the program, which includes WIOA-funded training, in Connecticut’s five workforce development regions. Program services may vary by area. CTDOL also hosts a statewide advisory board which is charged with ensuring that Connecticut has the talent to support economic growth through the Office of Workforce Competitiveness.

Program goals are to improve the quality of the workforce, increase economic self-sufficiency, meet the skill needs of employers, and enhance productivity and competiveness.
