The Federal Bonding Program (FBP)
The CT Department of Labor (CTDOL)
is committed to helping those involved in the criminal justice
system, including ex-offenders recovering from opioid and other
drug addictions, obtain employment in family-sustaining jobs and
address their barriers to reemployment.
Through the Federal Bonding Program (FBP), employers can apply
for cost free bonding assistance to help reduce the risks of
hiring individuals whose criminal backgrounds pose barriers to
securing employment. These bonds protect employers against
losses caused by the fraudulent or dishonest acts of the bonded
employee. Examples: theft, forgery, larceny, and embezzlement.
An individual can be bonded up to $25,000 with $0 deductible and
covers the first six months of a selected individual’s
employment.
The total cost of the Fidelity Bonding Program is $100,000, which is 100% funded through a U.S. Department of Labor Employment and Training grant.
Eligible Participants: Only individuals with criminal records,
including those involved with the criminal justice system by
virtue of their history of opioid or other drug addictions, are
eligible for coverage under the Fidelity Bonding Program. Only
full-time or part-time W-2 employees are eligible for this
program. Self-employed individuals are not eligible. Individuals must have a job offer to pursue bonding.
