FILING FOR UNEMPLOYMENT
Unemployment is an eligibility program. This
means that each claimant must meet specific requirements under
the law in order to receive unemployment benefits.
Information is available to help understand
and apply for unemployment benefits.
A few things to note about applying for
unemployment:
-
CTDOL uses a secure system
hosted by Salesforce called CT Direct Benefits
to collect information for unemployment
applications. Salesforce is certified by the
Federal Risk and Authorization Management
Program to manage confidential information. To
file an application, you click on the link below
and that will take you off the CTDOL page and to
the CT Direct Benefits page.
-
After you file an application
for unemployment, you will be notified that your
claim is processed. Then you will begin your
weekly filings. Each week you must verify your
employment status, job search efforts, and
report any income you earned.
-
The start of your claim is the
Sunday of the application week. Claims are not
backdated to your last day of work.
Example:
You are laid off on
November 3, 2021.
You submit your application for benefits on Wednesday, December
1, 2021.
Your application week begins on Sunday, November 28, 2021.
Your claim is not backdated to November 3, 2021 when you were
laid off.
