SUBJECT: PY 2001 WIA MIS Data Collection Forms and
Instructions and Training
Background: The second year of WIA implementation
has begun. While there is work beginning on a statewide case management
computer system, during PY 2001, we will again be working with the IBM mainframe
system we had previously modified to accommodate WIA data collection and
Over the first year of implementation, several issues
developed involving the administration of the WIA programs and recording of data
in the IBM system. We recognized the need for more improvements in the WIA
data collection system, and we worked to further modify the system so that it
would better meet local area needs and still meet federal reporting
We feel the changes we have made to the system answer
some of your concerns and requests for a system that is more responsive to the
way the WIA programs are actually administered by the local areas. At the
same time, we have retained the ability to report out the required information
Policy: Effective July 1, 2001, please use the
following forms and instructions for recording and entering relevant data on WIA
