Connecticut Internet Tax and
Wage System - For "paper" filers only
A “paper” filer is one who
receives form UC-2 and Form UC-5A or
Form UC-2R/5R from the Department. If you are receiving form
UC-2MAG, you are not a “paper” filer. You are listed as a
“magnetic” filer.
Registered employers who have
less than 250 employees and who are “paper” filers may file
their UI tax and wage return
via the Internet. This
includes both taxable employers who file the Employer Contribution
Return and Employee Quarterly Earnings Report (Form UC-2 and Form UC-5A)
and reimbursable employers who file the Employer Wage and Research
Information Report and Employee Quarterly Earnings Report (Form
UC-2R/5R).
Only reports for the most recently
completed calendar quarter may be filed using this Internet application.
The site will be available for a two-month period each quarter:
-

to May 31
-

FTP Tax and Wage Reporting - For Magnetic Filers Only
The File Transfer Protocol (FTP) reporting option is available
to employers who already file their quarterly tax and wage information
on an acceptable form of magnetic media (reels, cartridges or diskettes)
and have registered with the Department of Labor for the FTP
option. The transfer of the file is secured using 128 bit Secure Socket
Layer (SSL) encryption.
Unlike the Connecticut Internet Tax and Wage System (CITWS),
FTP can be used at any time to file any quarterly information (current
or delinquent). The file format for FTP is identical to files submitted
on any of the other forms of media (for magnetic specifications see
http://www.ctdol.state.ct.us/uitax/magnetic.htm ). If you currently
file your quarterly information on reels, cartridges or diskettes, and
would like to register for FTP, please complete the registration form at
http://www.ctdol.state.ct.us/uitax/ftp_form1.htm .

Name, Address and Status Changes It is important to keep your
name and address up-to-date, if for no other reason than you
will get your tax forms on time insuring that you can avoid
being charged otherwise unnecessary penalties and fees.
You will want to insure that we have the correct FEIN for you as
well. The Federal government uses it to corroborate that you have
paid your State UI taxes in a timely fashion. This allows you to
take a credit on your FUTA taxes.
If you have acquired a business or sold a business or are out of
business you should report that as soon as possible so that your
experience rating records can be adjusted as required. You can
report those changes here too.

Electronic Funds
Transfer (EFT)
You may pay your UI taxes for any
quarter at any time. This can be done independently of filing a
tax and wage return unless you are a “paper” filer wishing to pay
the current quarter. Paper filers paying the current quarter must
do so in conjunction with filing a current quarter return using the
Internet
Tax and Wage Reporting System.
In order to safeguard it, your
banking information is fully encrypted - both while stored and while in
transmission.
