What payment methods are available with the Department of Labor?

The 3 methods of payment that are acceptable by the Department of Labor are the ACH Credit Payment option, electronic funds transfer (ACH Debit) and paper check.

ACH (Automated Clearinghouse) Credit Payment Option

The ACH (Automated Clearinghouse) Credit Payment Option, in which employers pay Connecticut Unemployment Insurance Tax or Reimbursable payments, is available only to employers with 250 or more employees and/or Payroll Agents that file for 250 or more employees, in aggregate. It requires you to send your bank a NACHA CCD+ TXP formatted file.  If you are interested in using the ACH Credit Payment method, you must complete the registration form found at http://www.ctdol.state.ct.us/uitax/ACHform.htm. Upon successful submission and acceptance of the registration form, you will be emailed the information and instructions necessary to utilize this payment method. If you have any questions regarding this or other electronic payment hmethods, please contact the Employer Tax Accounting Unit at (860) 263-6470.

Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT)

All employers can pay balances via our EFT application. The website begins at http://www.ctdol.state.ct.us/uitax/LogInIntro.htm. You will need your UserID and password to enter this site. (If you have have not created your UserID and password,  please go to http://www.ctdol.state.ct.us/uitax/LogInIntro.htm).  As stated above, this is an ACH Debit transaction. No credit payment can be made.

Paper Check

Although the Department of Labor would prefer to receive your payments via the EFT process described above, any employer has the option to pay any balance, current or delinquent, by paper check. The check should be made out to Administrator, Unemployment Compensation.  When paying your quarterly unemployment taxes, your payment must be attached to one of the following forms:

  • Employer Contribution Return (Form UC-2)
  • Magnetic Payment Voucher (Form UC-2MAG)
  • Employer Internet Voucher (Form UC-2INT)

When paying delinquent balances, please attach the payment to your Statement of Account (Form UC-11).  In all cases, please write your Employer Registration Number on your check.

Check payments, along with one of the forms listed above, are to be sent to:
