  • Hire One: Give Someone Hire One: Give Someone With a Criminal Record a Second Chance. Free April 27 employer conference looks at ways to help individuals involved in the criminal justice system find employment.

    Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Partner RFP - The CT State Dept. of Education is seeking written proposals to increase the capacity of CT’s eligible providers  to deliver educational and support services to adult learners in CT's five workforce development areas. Under WIOA, the Adult Education and Family Literacy Act has expanded to include assisting adults transition to postsecondary education and training, and formalizes the role of adult education in assisting English language learners to acquire skills for succeeding in the 21st-century economy.

    NewEffective October 2, 2016, the maximum Unemployment Insurance benefit rate for new claims is $616 per week. For more information Click here.

    NewThe Fair Chance Employment Law goes into effect 1/1/17. It prevents employers from requiring employees/prospective employees to disclose any criminal history on initial employment applications. Exceptions are if an employer is required to do so under applicable state or federal laws, or the position requires a security or fidelity bond, or equivalent. Upon enactment, call CTDOL at 860-263-6791 if you believe the law has been violated.
