Federal Trade Commission -- choosing a Credit Counselor.  This page on the FTC's website provides important information on choosing a reliable credit counselor and on debt management plans.

  • America Saves -- Building Wealth.  America Saves is a non-profit organization that provides information and strategies to help individuals and families set goals and develop saving strategies to reach those goals.
  • America Saves -- Managing Debt.  Another webpage from America Saves provides information on determining if you have too much debt and strategies to reduce your debt.
  • Federal Reserve Board -- Tips for improving your credit score.  Information on how to get your free credit report and on how your credit score is determined.

  • Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation -- Consumer Protection.  Another valuable website with links to information on loans and mortgages, banking, financial education, identity theft and other issues.
  • Department of Consumer Protection -- Consumer Credit Counseling.  Contact information for Connecticut Consumer Credit Counseling, a private agency licensed by the CT Department of Banking, which assists consumers with their problems concerning credit cards and loans.
