Employees of Phototronics,
Inc. in Brookfield Eligible for Federal Trade Act Benefits
For immediate release
May 11, 2007
WETHERSFIELD, Approximately 13 workers of
Phototronics, who produced photomasks, were certified on April 19, 2007 as
eligible to apply for Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) and Alternative Trade
Adjustment Assistance (ATAA) benefits.
The Connecticut Labor Department is mailing an
eligibility notice regarding the benefits to all affected employees and is
providing information on how to apply for benefits. Employees eligible to apply
for federal benefits are those who are, or will be, totally or partially
separated from employment on or after March 23, 2006 and on or before April 19,
2009. Workers who qualify yet do not receive eligibility information are
urged to contact their nearest Labor Department CTWorks Center for
information and assistance.
Available assistance may include
training and income support in the form of Trade Readjustment Allowances, as
well as job search and relocation allowances for qualified workers who seek or
obtain employment outside their normal commuting areas. Participation in
ATAA may be available as an alternative to some TAA benefits, allowing older
workers who accept reemployment at a lower wage to receive a wage subsidy.
In addition, health coverage tax credits may be available to individuals
eligible to receive TAA income support or ATAA wage subsidies.
Those who need to apply for unemployment
benefits are reminded that claims can now be taken over the telephone or
Internet. Information can be found on the Department of Laborís Web site
