Three Career Fairs Comprise Labor Department’s 2010 Fall Series

For immediate release
August 25, 2010

WETHERSFIELD, The Connecticut Department of Labor’s popular career fair series returns for its fall run and a 13th consecutive year of matching workers and employers with the first event taking place Sept. 27 at the Ethan Allen Inn in Danbury.

An Oct. 5 Heroes for Hire Fair for former military personnel has been scheduled at Rentschler Field, and a Middlesex Career Fair will be held Oct. 27 at the Crowne Plaza in Cromwell,

"We want to get the word out to every job seeker and business in this state about our fall Career Fair series so that they can jot the dates down on their calendars and make plans to participate," Labor Commissioner Linda Agnew explains. "We have established ourselves as the leader in this field in the past 13 years. Our Connecticut Career Fair series attracts thousands of jobseekers and hundreds of businesses every fall. That’s because we deliver proven results, a fact that has since 1997 earned us an excellent reputation as the sponsor of this state's premiere recruiting events.”

According to Agnew, employers taking part in the Connecticut Career Fairs will have “an excellent opportunity to meet and talk with a variety of potential candidates who have professional, technical/high tech, administrative or production backgrounds with experience ranging from entry-level to management. Jobseekers should plan to bring along plenty of résumés and make the rounds of exhibitors’ booths to talk about what they can bring to a potential employer.”

”Statistics show that this agency’s career fairs reach more jobseekers than any other employment event in the state,” Agnew adds. She attributes that to the fact that the Labor Department often partners with community colleges, chambers of commerce and workforce development associations to ensure the success of the job fairs by focusing on the local employment needs of the business community.
