June 15 CONN-OSHA Breakfast Roundtable Examines “Evidence Based Safety”

For immediate release
June 4, 2010

WETHERSFIELD,  Milton Jacobs, a Certified Safety Professional and forensic safety engineer with Solutions Consultants, Inc. of East Granby, will be the guest speaker at the June 15 Breakfast Roundtable Discussion meeting sponsored by the Connecticut Department of Labor’s Division of Occupational Safety and Health (CONN-OSHA). The event will be held 8:15 to 9:45 a.m., at the agency’s Wethersfield Central Office, 200 Folly Brook Boulevard.

Jacobs holds a master’s degree in Public Health and is the author of the book SAFE, Reflections on Living a Safer Life, as well as the creator of the Home Meets Work TM safety education system. During his talk, he will describe what he calls his ”holistic” approach that has allowed him to uncover “evidence of a truly effective safety process and ways to identify indicators of risk for accidents within an organization.”

According to Jacobs, the absence of workplace accidents doesn’t necessarily mean the current measurements an employer has in place are the most effective. Instead, Jacobs will talk about his tracking method and the procuress used to detect indicators of risk at a worksite.

Also continuing this month, according to CONN-OSHA Safety Training Specialist John Able who coordinates the breakfast roundtable series, will be the discussion portion of the program. Time permitting, each person taking part will be asked to submit a question for discussion and participants can to share their opinion regarding the issue.

There is no charge for the program, although pre-registration is required. To register for the breakfast roundtable or for additional information, please contact Able at (860) 263-6902, or via email at able.john@dol.gov.
