Governor M. Jodi Rell today announced that the state, colleges and universities from Hartford and Springfield, Massachusetts, and area economic development authorities are sponsoring the sixth annual College 2 Career Expo at Rentschler Field in East Hartford on January 27.

"The spring semester is under way and college students are undoubtedly looking ahead to the start of their careers," Governor Rell said. "This event is a great opportunity for them to get a glance at what their future might hold. The Hartford and Springfield areas have one of the highest concentrations of professional and technical companies in the world - and our work force is second to none. The area is home to more than 40,000 companies employing more than 750,000 people.

"The annual College 2 Career Expos provide an excellent way for employers to meet soon-to-be graduates," the Governor said. "They are a chance to discuss job vacancies and internship placements, as well as give students a wonderful chance to plan ahead and see up-close the career options this area has to offer. In addition, our Department of Labor has Certified Professional Résumé Writers who will review and critique visitor résumés to ensure they effectively showcase skills and accomplishments."

The event will be held in the Ballroom at Rentschler Field. It is sponsored by the Labor Department, the Hartford Springfield Economic Partnership and local colleges and universities and will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Labor Department will also be operating its mobile Career Express, ready to assist visitors with career counseling and to answer their employment and training-related questions.

Admission is free. Directions as well as a complete listing of all attending employers can be found on the Connecticut Department of Labor's Web site at or
