Governor M. Jodi Rell today announced that local job-seekers can get help with employment searches, resume writing and other career services when the state’s Career Express, a mobile workforce center, makes a stop at the Portland Public Library on Thursday.

Portland is one of several local libraries the Career Express is visiting this month.

“The Career Express delivers much-needed help and resources directly to neighborhoods and smaller communities for those individuals in search of a job,” Governor Rell said. “This allows us to extend the reach and effectiveness of the Department of Labor’s CTWorks centers.”

With the exception of unemployment claim filing, the Career Express staff can provide job search assistance to residents on a first-come, first served basis. The Governor noted the state’s CTWorks Career Centers more extensive employment services, including career counselors, networking and computer skills workshops, Intranet access to job applications and specialized veterans’ events.

The Career Express will be at the Portland Public Library, 20 Freestone Avenue,  from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
