Labor Department’s Career Express Assists Job Seekers Around the State

WETHERSFIELD – The Career Express, a mobile workforce center operated by Connecticut Department of Labor employees, is currently on the road, visiting local schools, libraries and job fairs to offer job search assistance, résumé critique and related workshops. The following stops are planned for the Career Express within the next several weeks:

April 22

Job search strategies and career exploration workshops using the agency’s Job and Career Connection, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Emmett O’Brien Technical High School, 141 Prindle Avenue, Ansonia.

April 23

Job search assistance workshops for Capital Region Mental Health clients, 9 a.m. to noon at the Capital Region Mental Health offices, Vine Street, Hartford.

April 24

Job search and interviewing workshops from 9:30 to 11 a.m. and from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Southbury Public Library. Please contact the library at (203) 262-0626, for registration. An open job search assistance session will follow and run from 1:30 to 3 p.m. The Southbury Public Library is located at 100 Poverty Road.

April 27

Job search assistance workshop, including résumé critiques, 9 a. m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Windsor Locks Public Library, 28 Main Street.

April 28

Job search assistance, including résumé critiques, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Richmond Public Library, 15 School Drive, Marlborough. 

April 29

Job search assistance workshop, including résumé critiques, from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Riverfront Community Center, 300 Welles Street, Glastonbury.

May 1 

Job search assistance workshop, including résumé critiques, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the New Haven Public Library, 133 Elm Street (the New Haven Green).

May 4

Job search assistance workshop, including résumé critiques, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Danbury Public Library, 170 Main Street.

May 5

Job search workshop for students enrolled in the Collegiate Education for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Persons program, 10 am. to 1 p.m. at Northwest Connecticut College, Park Place, Winsted.

May 7

Job search assistance, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Faxon Branch Library, 1073 New Britain Avenue, West Hartford.

May 8

Connecticut Business Leaders Network Job Fair, from noon to 3 p.m. at Manchester Community College, Great Path, Manchester.

May 11

Job search assistance workshop, including résumé critiques and information about the Connecticut Department of Labor’s CTWorks Centers and services, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Case Memorial Library, 176 Tyler Road, Orange.

May 12

Job search assistance workshop, including résumé critiques, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Canton Public Library, 40 Dyer Avenue.

May 13

Overview of Connecticut Department of Labor services and job search strategies workshops for InterCommunity Inc. clients from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at InterCommunity Inc. 281 Main Street, East Hartford.

May 14

Job search and online application assistance from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the APT Vocational Services-sponsored job fair at the New Haven Field House, 480 Sherman Parkway, New Haven.

May 18

Job search assistance and résumé critiques, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Cora J. Belden Library, 33 Church Street, Rocky Hill.
