For immediate release
December 8, 2009

WETHERSFIELD, Having an effective and properly working fire sprinkler system can often mean the difference between life and death. To ensure maximum health and safety in the workplace, sprinkler systems should be of vital concern to every employer and employee.

To help educate companies about the different types of fire sprinklers available, John T. Johnson, technical trainer with Tyco Fire Suppression & Building Products of Cranston, RI, and an expert in the field, will be the featured speaker during a Dec. 15 Breakfast Roundtable Discussion meeting. Sponsored by the Connecticut Department of Labor’s Division of Occupational Safety and Health (CONN-OSHA), the program will run from 8:15 to 9:45 a.m. in the agency’s Central Office, located at 200 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield.

“A professional fire fighter and firefighting instructor, Mr. Johnson will review a number of the more frequently used types of sprinkler systems and explain, in-depth, their components,” explains CONN-OSHA Safety Training Specialist John Able, and coordinator of the breakfast series. ”He will also show how they operate, and point out the conditions that affect their performance.”

Also continuing this month, according to Able, will be the discussion portion of the program. Time permitting, each person taking part will be asked to submit a question and everyone in the room will be invited to share their opinion regarding the issue.

Admission to the roundtable is free, but pre-registration is required. To register for the breakfast roundtable or for additional information, please contact Able at (860) 263-6902, or via email at
