Career Express Visits Terryville Library, High Schools and Job Corps in January

WETHERSFIELD - Connecticut Department of Labor employees on board the agency’s Career Express will provide tips on career exploration process for students and conduct job search assistance workshops in several communities during the month of January. Stops will include the following events:

Jan. 7: Career Express staff will detail use of the Connecticut Department of Labor’s Job and Career Connection for job search and career exploration purposes during a 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. visit to Emmett O’Brien Technical High School, 141 Prindle Ave., Ansonia.   

Jan. 12: Employees on board the Career Express will conduct a 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. résumé workshop at East Haven Town Hall for applicants who pre-registered as part of a library program. They will then offer a job search assistance session to the general public from 12:30 to 3 p.m. East Haven Town Hall is located at 250 Main St.

Jan. 14: Career Express staff will be providing visitors who stop by Ansonia Community Action, Inc. with job search assistance during a 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. visit. The organization is located at 4 Fourth Street in Ansonia. 

Jan. 15: Career Express staff will discuss job search strategies, interviewing techniques and provide information about the Connecticut Department of Labor’s services to students during a 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. visit to the Porter & Chester Institute, 221 West Main St., Branford.

Jan. 21: Employees on board the Career Express will conduct job search and interviewing techniques workshops during a 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. visit to Southington’s Alta-Alternative Education Program, 242 Main St. 

Jan. 26: Career Express staff will provide visitors stopping by the Terryville Public Library with job search assistance during a noon to 3:30 p.m. visit. The library is located at 238 Main St.

Jan. 28 and 30: Connecticut Department of Labor employees will present a Job Search Strategies workshop and offer tips about performing an Internet job search and filling out job applications. From 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. during two Career Express visits to Coventry High School. The school is located on Ripley Hill Road. 

Jan. 29: Labor Department employees on board the Career Express will present Introduction to One-Stop Services and Job Search Strategies workshops during an 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. stop at the Hartford Job Corps Academy. The Hartford Job Corps Academy, William Shorty Campbell Drive in Hartford. 

The Career Express can be found at job fairs, career development events, schools, and
