For immediate release
September 17, 2008

WETHERSFIELD,  The Connecticut Department of Labor’s popular job and career fair series continues it 13th year with a Sept. 25 event taking place 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Rentschler Field Ball Room, East Hartford.

Representatives from 60 companies will be there to meet with an expected 1,000 jobseekers – both individuals seeking that first time, entry level position, as well as those looking to advance or change careers, noted State Labor Commissioner Patricia H. Mayfield.

“Whether you’re an employer hoping to recruit new workers, or an individual thinking about making a career move, our Central Connecticut Career Fair will provide you with plenty of opportunities,” Mayfield explains. “Employers will have an excellent recruitment forum in which to talk with potential new employees, while jobseekers will have a great chance to meet face-to-face with companies hoping to hire in a variety of fields.”

The event will feature Certified Professional Résumé Writers from the Connecticut Department of Labor. For no charge, the staff will review and critique résumés to help ensure they effectively showcase the skills of a jobseeker.

The agency’s mobile workforce center, the Career Express, will also be on hand, with Labor Department employees on board and ready to assist with employment needs. The vehicle also has Internet access, allowing visitors to conduct online job searches and career exploration.

Subsequent job fairs in the agency’s fall Connecticut Career fair series include the 4th annual Heroes 4 Hire job fair, which will take place Oct. 20 at the Holiday Inn in Waterbury, and the 5th Hartford-Springfield College2Career Expo scheduled for Nov. 6 at the Clarion Inn & Suites in East Windsor.

Employers can visit www.ctjobfairs.com or contact the agency’s Job Development Unit at (860) 263-6280 to register for the Central Connecticut Career Fair or any of the other job fairs in the series, while jobseekers can find directions to Rentschler Field and the list of companies that will be at the event.
