Career Express Stops Include Job Fairs, Veterans’ Annual Stand Down Event

WETHERSFIELD,  Connecticut Department of Labor employees on board the agency’s Career Express will assist visitors during Stand Down 2008, the state’s outreach and support program for homeless veterans in Rocky Hill; take part in a job fair in North Haven Holiday Inn, and assist visitors during the Labor Department’s first fall Connecticut Career fair at Rentschler Field in East Hartford. Stops during the latter part of September include the following visits:

Sept 12: Career Express staff will provide job search assistance to visitors during Stand Down 2008, the annual day-long outreach and support program for homeless veterans taking place from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on the campus of the State Veterans Home, 287 West St., Rocky Hill.   

Sept. 16: Connecticut Department of Labor employees on board the Career Express will help with the filing of online applications and provide job search assistance and during an 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. visit to a job fair sponsored by the New Haven Register that is being held at the North Haven Holiday Inn, 201 Washington Ave., North Haven. 

Sept. 18: Connecticut Department of Labor employees will be on board the Career Express to conduct job search and interviewing workshops for clients of the Disabilities Network of Eastern Connecticut. The session will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the Disabilities Network of Eastern Connecticut is located on West Town Street in Norwich. 

Sept. 24: Career Express staff will present an introduction to One-Stop CTWorks services, including a job search strategies workshop, during a visit to the Hartford Job Corps being held 8:30 a.m. to noon. The Hartford Job Corps is located at 100 William Shorty Campbell Drive. 

Sept. 25: A job search assistance workshop for Capital Region Mental Health Center clients will be provided by Career Express staff during a 9 a.m. to noon visit. The Capital Region Mental Health Center is located on Coventry Street in Hartford.  

Sept. 25. Career Express staff will be onsite at Rentschler Field in East Hartford to assist

visitors during the Connecticut Department of Labor’s Connecticut Career and Job Fair. Visitors are welcome to visit the vehicle from 12:30 to 3 p.m. to receive job search assistance, gain career-related advice and learn more about CTWorks employment services.
