Career Express Stops Include DOL Job Fair In Danielson and High School Visits

WETHERSFIELD, Connecticut Department of Labor employees on board the agency’s Career Express, will conduct an Internet job search workshop for high school juniors, participate in Connecticut Career Fair in Danielson, and take part in a Career Day taking place at a Magnet School in Northford during the later part of May. Stops include:  

May 16: Connecticut Department of Labor employees on board the Career Express will visit the Torrington Armory, 153 South Main St., from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. to provide job search assistance to participants of the Torrington Project Homeless Connect program.  

May 19: Career Express staff will conduct an Internet job search workshop for high school juniors at E.C. Goodwin Technical School, 735 Slater Rd., New Britain, during a 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. stop.  

May 21: Connecticut Department of Labor employees on board the Career Express will participate in an Adult Education job fair being sponsored by the Groton School-to-Career Program being held at the West Side Middle School, 250 Brandegee Ave. The job fair will run from 6 to 8 p.m. 

May 22: The Career Express will be onsite and visitors can talk with Connecticut Department of Labor employees aboard the vehicle from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., during the agency’s third spring Connecticut Career Fair that is being held at Quinebaug Community College in Danielson, 742 Maple St. The public is welcome to visit the Career Express as well as attend the job fair. 

May 23:  Career Express staff will provide individualized assistance in résumé writing, job search techniques and interviewing during a 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. visit to the InterCommunity Mental Health Group, 281 Main St., East Hartford. 

May 28: Career Express staff will conduct job search workshops for students during a 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. stop at the Hartford Job Corps Academy, 100 William “Shorty” Campbell Dr., in Hartford.  

May 29: Connecticut Department of Labor employees on board the Career Express will participate in a Career Day taking place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the CAMS Magnet School located at 25 Old Post Rd., Northford. Career Express staff will provide an overview of the various services available from the agency, including job search strategies and the agency’s employment services.  

May 30: Career Express staff will provide job search assistance to clients of the Capital Region Mental Health Center, located on Coventry Street in Hartford, during a 9 a.m. to noon visit.
