Career Express Stops Include Visits To Local High Schools, DOL Job Fair

WETHERSFIELD, Connecticut Department of Labor employees on board the agency’s Career Express will participate in a high school career day, present PowerPoint presentations dealing with job search, and assist visitors with their employment needs during the agency’s first spring Connecticut Career Fair being held at Manchester Community College. Stops by the Career Express the first half of April include:  

April 3: The Career Express will be featured during a Career Day being held from 9:30 a.m. until noon at the Parish Hill School, 304 Parish Hill Road, Chaplin.   

April 4:  Career Express staff will present PowerPoint presentations dealing with the job search and interviewing processes during an 8:30 a.m. to noon visit to The Big Picture High School in Bloomfield, 44 Griffin Road South. 

April 7: Connecticut Department of Labor employees on board the Career Express will present an overview addressing job applications and writing cover letters during a 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. visit to Bolton High School, 72 Brandy St. 

April 8: Career Express staff will participate in a Career Exploration Day being held from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Asnuntuck Community College, 170 Elm St. 

April 9: Career Express staff will present a 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. workshop dealing with job search strategies, interviewing techniques and job search Web sites for graduating students

during a stop at the Middletown Adult Education offices, 398 Main St. 

April 10: Connecticut Department of Labor employees on board the Career Express will take part in a job fair for students taking place at Shelton High School from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. The high school is located at 120 Meadow St. 

April 11: Department of Labor employees on board the Career Express will present job search/interview skill workshops during a 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. visit to Lebanon Pines, located at 37 Camp Moween Rd., Lebanon.

April 12: The Career Express will be onsite during the agency’s first spring Connecticut Career Fair being held at Manchester Community College. Visitors can meet with Connecticut Department of Labor employees aboard the vehicle from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and use equipment on the van for job search and career exploration. Manchester Community College is located at Great Path in Manchester. 

April 14: Connecticut Department of Labor employees on board the Career Express will provide job search assistance to residents of the City of Danbury’s homeless shelter from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The shelter is located on New Street. 

April 15: Career Express staff will take part in a career fair being held at the Eastbrook Mall running from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Eastbrook Mall is located on Route 195 in Mansfield.
