Connecticut Department of Labor Employees Conducting 18th Annual Holiday Toy Drive

For immediate release
December 2, 2008

WETHERSFIELD,  Looking to help spread a little extra spirit of the season to young people living in the Hartford area, Connecticut Department of Labor employees are once again working with the Salvation Army of Greater Hartford to help with the organization’s annual toy drive.

Now in its 18th year, the project is coordinated by employees in the agency’s Information Technology unit and continues through Dec. 11.  Labor Department staff are bringing in new, unwrapped toys or making monetary donations.  Agency employees volunteering in the project will then make an after-work shopping trip to purchase gifts for the youngsters.

“Our IT Toy Drive has become a holiday tradition in this agency,” explains State Labor Commissioner Patricia H. Mayfield.” It is always gratifying to see the generosity of DOL employees who are so willing to reach out and help make the holiday season a little happier for the young people. Our employees always come through to help ensure that these children enjoy this special time of the year.”
