CONN-OSHA Dec. 16 Breakfast Roundtable

Deveau, Safety Manager with Smurfit-Stone Container Enterprises of Uncasville,
will outline the companyís philosophy of employee involvement and how it has
brought increased productivity and greater safety and health success to the
local paper mill.
Breakfast Roundtable Discussion group meeting, sponsored by the Connecticut
Department of Laborís Division of Occupational Safety, will be held 8:15 to 9:45
a.m. at the Labor Departmentís Central Office, 200 Folly Brook Boulevard,
Deveau, who holds a
number of National Association of Safety Professionals training certifications,
will provide an overview of his companyís operations and explain how the
company, founded in 1998, has established itself as a leader in its field.
Employees at the Uncasville facility produce a
10-ton reel of paper approximately every 30 minutes, translating into
approximately 450 tons per day of 100 percent recycled corrugating medium.

Container Enterprise has also twice earned the Connecticut Workersí Compensation
Commissionís Safety Award. SHARP, which is the national
Safety and Health Recognition Program, is the highest
honor presented by the U.S Department of Labor and the Connecticut Department of
Laborís CONN-OSHA Division to small employers for workplace safety excellence.
Training Officer John Able, who
coordinates the breakfast series, notes that time permitting, the roundtable
portion of the morning will provide opportunities for each attendee to submit a
question and everyone will be invited to share their opinions regarding the
