Job Fair for Veterans Features More than 50 Companies
October 20 Event Set for Waterbury’s Holiday Inn

WETHERSFIELD – More
than 55 employers will be on hand at the Waterbury Holiday Inn on Oct. 20 to
meet with area jobseekers that served in the Army, Air Force, Marines and Coast
Guard, during Heroes 4Hire job and career fair.
The event runs from
11 to 3 p.m., and is sponsored by Connecticut Departments of Labor and Veterans
Affairs and the Connecticut Military Department. This is the fourth job fair
that the agencies have planned for veterans, and the first time it has been held
in western Connecticut.

Utilities, Quassy Amusement Park, Subway and United Illuminating. Companies are
looking for candidates to fill openings in the managerial, professional, sales,
administrative, production and related fields.

Nationally Certified Professional Résumé Writers and agency employees will be
stationed on board the Career Express -- the Labor Department’s mobile
workforce center -- to offer career development guidance and assistance with
online employment applications and Internet job searches.
The Department of Veterans Affairs and the Department of Social Services also
will have mobile vans at the event, along with knowledgeable individuals to
answer questions about veterans’ benefits, vocational rehabilitation, career
counseling, educational options and entitlement programs, including health care
services, eligibility, and assistance programs.
Admission to the
job fair is free and there is no charge for any of the services. Directions to
