New Year Brings Labor Department’s Career Express Travels to Schools, Community Groups

WETHERSFIELD, Connecticut Department of Labor employees and the agency’s Career Express will present a series of interviewing skills workshops to students in Norwich, make a stop at the Hartford Job Corps Academy, and conduct an Internet job search workshop in Bristol during the first half of January. Visits made by the Career Express include stops at the following locations:

January 3: Career Express staff will be on-site to provide a series of interviewing skills workshops to students at Norwich Free Academy, 305 Broadway, from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

January 4: Career Express staff will conduct a workshop explaining how to use the Connecticut Department of Labor’s Job and Career Connection to obtain Labor Market Information and career exploration information during a 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. visit to Emmett O’Brien High School. The school is located at 141 Prindle Ave., Ansonia. 

January 8: Connecticut Department of Labor employees on board the Career Express will present an Internet job search workshop during a 9 a.m. to noon visit to the Bristol Community Organization located at 55 South St., Bristol.

January 11: Career Express staff will conduct an 11 a.m. to noon session at Gateway Learning Academy, New Park Avenue in Hartford, to detail the use of the Job and Career Connection for the purpose of a job search.

January 15: Career Express staff will conduct job search and interviewing workshops and also present and overview of DOL services to students during a 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. stop at the Hartford Job Corps. The Hartford Job Corps is located at 100 William “Shorty” Campbell St.

The Career Express team can be found at job fairs, career development events, schools, and other workshops, seminars and events across the state.
