More Than 40 Employers Set to Attend Labor Department’s May 1 Career Fair

For immediate release
April 27, 2007

WETHERSFIELD, Continuing its successful run of matching jobseekers with employers, the Department of Labor and CareerBuilder/Jobs4U have teamed up to host eastern Connecticut’s most impressive career fair.  More than 40 companies will converge on May 1 at the Norwich Holiday Inn from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

“Our spring job fairs in Manchester and North Haven have already connected hundreds of potential employees with dozens of quality employers and we look forward to bringing this successful series to the Norwich area,” noted State Labor Commissioner Patricia H. Mayfield.

“Employers participating in our May 1 fair are seeking job candidates with professional, technical, administrative or production backgrounds and experience ranging from entry-level to management,” Commissioner Mayfield added. “In addition, Certified Professional Résumé Writers from the Labor Department will review and critique résumés, at no charge.

The job fair will also feature federal and state veteran’s benefit information booths and provide Internet access for employer applications, while career assistance will be available on board the agency’s mobile career center, the Career Express.

"Our job and career fairs traditionally attract the largest number of companies and job seekers of any comparable recruitment event in this state,” said Job Fair Director John Tirinzonie. “For those just entering the workforce or looking to find a new career, the Norwich Holiday Inn is the place to be on May 1.”

Business attire is required. Those seeking further information about the job and career fair, including directions and a list of participating companies can visit www.ctjobfairs.com. Employers can also register on this site or by calling the Connecticut Department of Labor’s

Job Development Unit at (860) 263-6280. This event is also sponsored by Eastern CTWorks.
