March 22, 2007

As part of its Employer Education Breakfast seminar series, the basics of employment law will be detailed during a session being held 8 to 11 a.m. April 13 at the Connecticut Department of Labor’s Wethersfield office at 200 Folly Brook Boulevard.

Subject expert Heidi Lane, an attorney in the agency’s Office of Program Policy, will give an overview on employment law and answer questions from attendees.  The seminar is geared toward human resources professionals, business owners and managers, attorneys, and other employers who want a basic introduction to employment laws affecting the Connecticut workplace.

“The agency’s Employer Education Breakfast seminars provide us with the opportunity to reach out and provide valuable information that will help companies and their employees,” noted State Labor Commissioner Patricia H. Mayfield. “Topics will include laws pertaining to personnel files, smoking in the workplace, wage payment laws, and meal periods – issues that are of importance to everyone.

Titled Introduction to Employment Law, the presentation is ideally suited to entry-level human resource professionals. Employer feedback has shown that attendees feel the sessions provide valuable information and are offered at a time and location that is convenient for the business community.

The pre-registration fee, which is due by March 27, is $25.  Pre-registration applications and checks should be sent to Kathy Marioni, Connecticut Department of Labor, 200 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield, CT 06109.
