Schedule Includes Job Search and Interview Workshops

WETHERSFIELD, During the
second half of October, Connecticut Department of Labor employees on the
agency’s Career Express will present a workshop on job search strategies
and interviewing techniques for high school students, provide job search
assistance for residents of a homeless shelter, and participate in student
Career Exploration Day.
Stops made by the
Career Express from Oct.16 to 31 include the following events:
Career Express staff will provide a job search assistance workshop for
residents of the Open Hearth Shelter, Sheldon Street in Hartford, from 1 to 4
Connecticut Department of Labor employees
on the Career Express will present a workshop detailing job search
strategies and interviewing techniques for school-to-career seniors during a 9
a.m. to 2 p.m. visit to E.O Smith High School, 1235 Storrs Road in Storrs.
staff will take part in a Project
Homeless Connect Service Provider Job Fair taking place in two locations in
eastern Connecticut: The bus will be at the St. Vincent DePaul Soup Kitchen in
Norwich from 9 a.m. until noon and at the Shiloh Family Life Center in New
London from 1 to 4 p.m. The St. Vincent DePaul Soup Kitchen is located on
Railroad Avenue in Norwich while Shiloh Family Life Center can be found at 3
Garvin Street in New London.
The Career Express will be at
Danbury’s homeless shelter, 41 New Street, from10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and staff will
provide job search assistance for residents at the shelter
staff will present an overview of
Connecticut Department of Labor and One-Stop workforce services as well as an
Internet job search workshop during a 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. visit to Northwestern
Connecticut College. The college is located on Park Place East in Winsted.
Employees on the Career Express staff will conduct workshops on career
exploration and introduction to résumés during a 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. visit to
Naugatuck High School, 543 Rubber Avenue.
Career Express staff will present a job search strategies and
interviewing techniques workshop, from 10 a.m. to noon, for residents of
Coventry House in Hartford.
