WETHERSFIELD, Is your company looking for employees with integrity, leadership skills, dedication and a strong work ethic?  The answer to your search may be found at the Heroes 4Hire veterans job fair to be held noon to 4 p.m. Jan. 30 at Rentschler Field in East Hartford.

“More than 50 employers have already signed up to participate in this special event that will showcase the many talents and skills our veterans bring to the workplace,” stated Terry Brennan, director of the Connecticut Department of Labor’s Office for Veterans’ Workforce Development.

Brennan noted that there are many advantages to employers hiring a veteran. In addition to bringing an accelerated learning curve to the workplace, veterans are current with technology, understand the rigors of tight schedules and limited resources, and they also possess the global outlook that an enterprise of any size needs to succeed. Veterans currently make up approximately 12 percent of the state’s population.

“Veterans who have served in the Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines, Navy, National Guard and as a Reserves are a dedicated group of men and women who will be a definite asset to your business,” noted Brennan. “Although space is filling up quickly, there is still room for employers seeking excellent job candidates who bring transferable skills that have been proven in real world situations. This event is an opportunity for us to match these individuals with an employer who can utilize the skills a veteran brings to the workforce.”

Companies interested in participating in the January 30 Heroes 4Hire veterans job fair are asked to contact Denise Worster, 860-263-6280 or visit the Labor Department’s job fair Web site at www.ctjobfairs.com
