Labor Department’s Career Express Brings Workforce Services to Schools, Health Center

WETHERSFIELD, Connecticut Department of Labor employees aboard the Agency’s Career Express will take part in résumé and job search assistance workshops, provide assistance with on-line applications during a recruitment effort for retail jobs, and attend a high school career expo during the first part of February.

The Career Express, a specially designed Winnebago with eight computer stations and Internet access, features the latest workforce and job skill development tools available from the Department of Labor and its CTWorks partners. The mobile career center also has a plasma TV with a SMART Board overlay for workshops and a conference area where visitors can meet with career counselors, work with résumé writers or gain information from business service specialists. Stops made by the Career Express will include the following visits:

Feb. 7: Résumé pointers and job search assistance workshop from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Harbor Health Services, 13 Sycamore Way in Branford.

Feb. 9: Résumé and interview pointers for school-to-career students at Branford High School, 185 East Main Street, Branford.

Feb. 15: Recruitment assistance for potential Home Depot employees taking place 1 to 4 p.m. at the Waterbury CTWorks Center, 249 Thomaston Avenue, Waterbury.

Feb. 16: Participation in a Career Expo taking place 9 a.m. to noon at Haddam-Killingworth High School, 25 Little City Road, Higganum.
