IMPORTANT ADVISORY about changes to the TAA Program

President Obama signed the Trade and Globalization Adjustment Assistance Act of 2009 on February 17, 2009.  This new law, part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (the "stimulus bill"), has changed the Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) for Workers program.

  • Most of the changes are effective with Trade Act petitions filed on and after May 18, 2009.  Monitor the federal Trade Act Website for updated information that will be posted on a continuing basis.

  • The TAA Health Coverage Improvement Act of 2009, also part of the stimulus bill, made changes to the Health Coverage Tax Credit (HCTC).  Specific details regarding HCTC changes are available on the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Website.
